Updated : 2018-02-12
Print PrintTianjin recently released main functional zone planning for the marine areas and islands under the administration of the city. The strategy covers about 2,146 square kilometers, including the Sino-Singapore Eco-City, Tianjin Port, Lingang Economic Development Zone and the Dashentang Oyster Reef National Marine Reserve.
The Eco-City is to focus on creative industries and high-end coastal tourism and aim to foster a cultural and tourism industrial cluster. It will also be developed into a key marine aquatic product distribution center and a yacht industrial base in North China.
The main dockland of Tianjin Port will grow into a key hub of the national comprehensive transportation system and a bonded processing area and modern logistics base, becoming a free trade experimental zone.
Marine equipment manufacturing, shipbuilding and ecologically friendly industries will be the high priorities for the Lingang Economic Development Zone.
The Nangang Industrial Zone will optimize its industrial layout through high-end offshore petrochemical industrial clusters and a demonstration area for circular economy.
The city will set the scale and order the development of its marine areas, which will replace the industrial production-oriented development mode with one based on public demand.
New projects will be encouraged to settle in the Nangang Industrial Zone, the Lingang Economic Development Zone and the Eco-City.
In addition, Tianjin will open a public-access coastline for entertainment to enable the coastline to better serve the community.
