An online opening ceremony of Cote d'Ivoire Luban Workshop was held on Dec 9, 2020, marking not only the fourth Luban workshop opened in Africa within half a month but also the first one with participation of a Tianjin university.
The Cote d'Ivoire Luban Workshop aims to conduct multi-level technical skills training to help the country solve practical issues in its development by offering professional courses that are consistent with the local economic and social development strategy. The majors of mechanical engineering as well as electrical engineering and automation will be the main focus of the workshop.
The workshop was jointly established by Tianjin University of Technology and the prestigious Institut National Polytechnique Felix Houphouet Boigny in Yamoussoukro, Cote d'Ivoire.
Koffi N'Guessan, president of the Institut National Polytechnique Felix Houphouet Boigny in Yamoussoukro, said at the ceremony that Tianjin University of Technology has fulfilled all its commitments even in the context of the COVID-19 outbreak.
With the Luban Workshop platform, the institute should enhance its manufacturing technology teaching and training capabilities and contribute to the industrial development of Cote d'Ivoire and even of Africa, according to N'Guessan.

Through the platform of Luban workshop, Tianjin University of Technology would conduct exchanges and cooperation with the Institut National Polytechnique Felix Houphouet Boigny in Yamoussoukro in personnel training, scientific research, discipline construction, and skill training.
The Cote d'Ivoire Luban Workshop covers an area of 805 square meters, has one large equipment workshop as training venue, three laboratories, three classrooms, one teaching and research office, and is equipped with 11 sets of large equipment in five categories, 87 sets of middle and small instruments and equipment in 16 categories as well as assisted teaching equipment including test beds and projectors.
In addition, the workshop has two experimental centers specialized in advanced manufacturing technology and electrical automation, in a bid to integrate the workshop's practical skill training into local university's talent training system and help enhance students' technical quality and technological innovation ability.
