A Chinese herbal medicine planting, testing and processing base was recently opened at the Pakistan Luban Workshop in Multan, Pakistan, aiming to promote the international development of Chinese herbal medicine.
It is a collaborative effort by Tianjin Modern Vocational Technology College, DRT Chinese Medicine Decoction Piece Co, Tianjin Tailai Import and Export Co and MNS University of Agriculture in Multan.
The project will focus on selecting and breeding high-quality, effective, and high-yield Chinese herbal medicines -- such as licorice, lithospermum and cistanche -- for large-scale cultivation in the agricultural city of Multan.
Biopharmaceutical experts have been enlisted as mentors, as the project emphasizes strong integration between industry and education and research.
In July 2018, two Pakistan Luban Workshops were established in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province, and in Multan. The workshops have trained over a thousand Pakistani technical youths under a teaching model of "academic education + vocational training."
