Heavy investment in Tibet's education: White paper

BEIJING -- The Chinese central government poured 224 billion yuan (about $35 billion) between 1951 and 2020 into Tibet's education, according to a white paper issued on Friday.

The southwestern autonomous region now has 3,195 schools of various types hosting more than 790,000 students, said the white paper titled "Tibet Since 1951: Liberation, Development and Prosperity," issued by China's State Council Information Office.

Financial assistance system covers all stages of education in Tibet: white paper

Tibet has established a student financial assistance system covering all stages of education from preschool to higher education, said a white paper issued Friday by China's State Council Information Office.

The system, supported by 40 financial assistance policies, covers both private and public education and all students experiencing economic difficulties, according to the white paper titled "Tibet Since 1951: Liberation, Development and Prosperity."
