Yongzin.com, the world's first Tibetan-language search engine launched in August 2016, are now accessible to users in 34 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) in China, as well as 76 countries and regions around the world including the United States, France, Japan, Russia, and Singapore,  according to Lhakyi Drolma, director of the Comprehensive Department of the Tibetan Information Technology Research Center of Hainan Tibetan autonomous prefecture in Northwest China's Qinghai province. It receives around 2 million daily visits, with the number of clicks totaling over 5.6 billion.

Yongzin literally means "master" or "teacher" in the Tibetan language.

The search engine is a unified portal for all major Tibetan-language websites in China, as well as the main source and resource sharing center for online information in the Tibetan language. Based on the function of Tibetan-language online information sharing and searching, the platform actively explored the framework of the yongzin ecosystem, and effectively promoted the technological transformation and application of Tibetan-language information processing research results. It has thus developed into a large-scale Tibetan-language network system which includes a Tibetan search engine, multi-terminal applications, as well as automatic word segmentation and language intelligent analysis system based on standard Tibetan.

The platform covers information in more than 30 fields, such as politics, culture, technology and history, and it has also established more than 80 independent applications and services. The current total data volume has reached 130TB. The operation of the platform has broken the dilemma of limited resources and serious shortage of information supply in China's Tibetan online information service, promoted the transformation and application of Tibetan information research results, and provided accurate and multi-dimensional information for users at home and abroad.

"The two apps we launched, the 'yongzin' app and the input method software that supports input in Tibetan, Chinese and English, have seen three million downloads across app stores," Lhakyi Drolma said.
