Starting from East Beidama Road in the south and ending at Lianhe Road in the north, Jixiang Commercial Street -- in Shenyang city, in Northeast China's Liaoning province -- was once called Jixiangli (the lucky place in Chinese), because Nurhachi, founder of the kingdom of the Great Jin which preceded the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), was saved there when he was being hunted down by his enemies.
Later at the end of the Qing Dynasty, Jixiang Commercial Street was built. There are rich historical and cultural resources near the street, including Dafa Temple which was built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the residence of Wang Mingyu -- one of the five famous residences of the Republic of China period (1912-1949), the Beiguan Church, as well as the old Fengtian Spinning Factory and Shenyang University.

Nowadays, in order to boost its local nighttime economy, Dadong district in Shenyang has been developing the street as China's first automobile culture themed tourism and commercial pedestrian street, based on local time-honored cultural heritage.
