A major new jogging, cycling and recreational track -- which is 21.6 kilometers long and runs through the Puhe River urban greenway in Shenyang city -- is expected to make a major difference to the quality of life of residents.
The new track, which is located in the Shenbei new district of Shenyang city, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province, was opened to the public on Oct 18.
It is located on the north banks of the Puhe River, starting from Park Outlets plaza in the east, passing Xiaoxin Street, Qixing Street, Xuezi Bridge and Daoyi Street in the west. Several of its features make it ideal for evening runners.

There is a 3.1-km illuminated section of track stretching from the entrance of the Renjie Lake Metro station to the China Xibe Museum, featuring multicolored patterns and inspirational words and fluorescent lights, which are switched on from sunset to midnight.
Elsewhere, a 7.8-km colorfully illuminated running lane between Daoyi Street and Lingyuan Street is particularly comfortable for runners because of its elastic surface, which is also marked with grays and reds to divide the bicycle lane and the sidewalk.
According to the head of the district's construction bureau, the remaining 10.6-km of lane has an asphalt surface, which will be maintained and improved according to the needs of local citizens. The pavement is currently used for jogging, roller skating and bicycle riding.
