The 2nd World Internet Conference, also known as the Wuzhen Summit, took place Dec 16 -18, in Wuzhen, Zhejiang. Themed "an Interconnected World Shared and Governed by All -- Building a Cyberspace Community of Shared Destiny", the event was hosted by the Cyberspace Administration of China and the Zhejiang Provincial Government.
President Xi Jinping attended the conference on Dec 16. He called for building a cyber-community of common destiny and put forward the principles of respecting cyber sovereignty, safeguarding cyber security, encouraging cyber opening up and building a constructive cyber order as the world governs the Internet.
The Conference reviewed the achievements of China's Internet development over the past two decades and looked into the future by displaying a treasure house of the latest technical inventions. It has gathered together more than 2,000 participants, including state leaders, government officials, business leaders, Internet titans, and experts from more than 120 countries and regions.
The guests at 10 forums exchanged views on a wide range of topics such as Internet culture communication, Internet innovation and development, digital economic cooperation, cyber security, Internet plus, cyberspace governance and the digital Silk Road.
The Light of the Internet exhibition, which was held on the sidelines of the conference, attracted about 260 enterprises from Asia-Pacific regions, the US, Europe and Latin America. The exhibition showcased the potential and value of the frontier technologies and innovative projects of China's Internet-related industries.

The Conference closed with the release of the Wuzhen Initiative which proposed that the international community and all interested parties should adhere to cooperation and seek mutual benefits, collaboratively promote the development, governance and prosperity of the Internet, and strengthen the protection of minors in cyberspace.
The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
