WIC holds Nishan Dialogue on Digital Civilization

The World Internet Conference Nishan Dialogue on Digital Civilization was held in Nishan, Qufu, East China’s Shandong province, from June 25 to 27. Representatives from international organizations, internet companies and industrial institutions held discussions on the new achievements and prospect of AI development. 

MWC Shanghai 2023 opens

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2023 opened on June 28, with the theme “Velocity.” This is the first complete onsite MWC in four years, and the 10th anniversary of MWC Shanghai.

With nanometer magnetic compounds, scientists from University of California, Los Angeles, found a smart textile that can detect body dynamic movement from muscle bending and venous pulsation. 

China leads world in assigning 6GHz frequency range to 5G, 6G systems

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China recently released a new version of rules for radio frequency division, which is set to be implemented on July 1. The newly-revised rules will be the first in the world to apply 6GHz frequency range to 5G and 6G system. 

Low-quality AI-generated websites boom thanks to ads

A news website rating tool NewsGuard released the monitoring results of false information of June 2023, pointing out that 141 brands were advertising on low-quality AI-generated websites.

Samsung beefs up efforts to develop chip manufacturing

Samsung will increase productivity and use more advanced technology for its chip foundry business, hoping to grab more orders from the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. The South Korean company said it will develop the production technique of two nanometers for cellphone components by 2025. 

Google having productive talks with EU on AI regulations, cloud chief says

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, said that the company is having productive talks with EU regulators on artificial intelligence (AI) regulations and how companies like Google can develop AI business safely and responsibly.

Assembly time of future Tesla cars to be shortened by one fourth

According to an American automobile engineering company, the upgrading of future Tesla cars will enable their assembly time to be shortened by 25 percent. 

Meta to end news services in Canada

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, said that it would stop providing news on the Facebook and Instagram of Canada, after the parliament of Canada passed a bill that would force internet giants to pay news publishers.
