US should learn from China’s regulation on AI: US media

As countries worldwide are trying to regulate artificial intelligence (AI), they have many chances to learn from each other, according to an article published on Sept 12 on the website of US journal Foreign Policy. China has issued the first and most mature regulation and law on AI in the world, and the US can learn a lot from China’s regulation on AI, said the article.

Themed "Cybersecurity for the People and by the People", the 2023 Cybersecurity Week is launched nationwide from Sept 11 to 17.

Robots without brains able to escape from complex maze

Researchers from North Carolina State University created a kind of flexible robots that can find their way in simple mazes without the guidance of human or computers. Based on this, they have developed a new flexible robot without a brain that can navigate through more complex and dynamic environment. 

New magnetic materials able to help develop quantum computers that can operate under normal temperature

A team from the University of Texas at El Paso has developed a new material for quantum computing that can work under normal temperature, and its magnetism is 100 times as much as pure iron. The material is expected to be used to develop quantum computers that can work under normal temperature.

US Department of Justice lawsuit vs Google starts trial

On Sept 12 local time, Google’s barristers and representatives from US Department of Justice checked evidence of both parties at court in Washington DC. This marks the anti-monopoly case entering trial phase. The department sued Google for allegedly maintaining its monopoly since 2010, and for taking up nearly 90 percent of share in the internet search market. 

Alibaba Cloud opens its Tongyi Qianwen LLM to public

Alibaba Cloud announced that its large language model Tongyi Qianwen has passed the first batch of filing and opened to the public. Users can get access to its official website to experience its service. Enterprise users can use its API through Alibaba Cloud. 

Long-term value of Tesla to come from AI and robots

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on Sept 11 that his company’s long-term value will be driven by AI and robots. Previously, a report of Morgan Stanley attributes Tesla’s long-term growth to its custom-made super computer Dojo. 

Samsung, Microsoft cooperate to develop chatbots

Samsung and Microsoft are cooperating in the development of internal generative AI. Specifically, the two companies are working together to develop a chatbot that is intended to assist some internal affairs of Samsung, such as translation and passage summarization. 

Apple to phase out all plastic packages before the end of 2024

Apple announced that it will phase out all plastic packages before the end of 2024, and gradually eliminate feather products. As of 2030, more than 300 suppliers will use 100-percent clean energy materials to manufacture Apple products.
