Since the World Internet Conference (WIC) Global Youth Leadership Program was first launched in August this year, it has received applications from nearly 60 countries and regions around the world. Major international organizations, leading global internet enterprises and renowned scholars in the field of the internet have also recommended candidates. After evaluation, 18 outstanding young people from 14 countries and regions on 5 continents made it to the selected list after going through a rigorous screening process.
The first group of Global Youth Leaders will be invited to participate in this year's World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit, and make a collective appearance at the “Youth and Digital Future” Forum. They will share the voice of youth on internet technology, industry and governance through keynote speeches, cross-generation dialogues and other forms of exchanges to gather the power of global youth, and help build a community with a shared future in cyberspace. In the future, the WIC will launch a series of activities under the framework of the Global Youth Leadership Program, and will work with all parties to build an open, inclusive and vibrant youth community of international organizations.
The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
