In 2020, more than 300 leading technological achievements were submitted from different countries and regions, including China, the United States, and Russia. The submitted achievements focused on the five application categories of industrial recovery and coordinated development, digitalized social governance, global public crisis response, artificial intelligence (AI) based cloud life, and green digital public welfare practices, covering a wide range of technologies such as quantum computing, satellite internet, AI, high-end chips, 5G network and applications. The projects involved application scenarios closely related to social life, such as smart cities, intelligent transportation, remote healthcare and online education.
On Nov 23, the 2020 Release Ceremony for World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements was held at the Wuzhen International Internet Exhibition & Convention Center, where 14 world-leading technological achievements and five nominated projects were showcased.
The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
