Addressing a film awards ceremony in Colombo on Saturday, Wickremesinghe said AI technology has been integrated into the global film industry since last year, and Sri Lanka must be prepared to use this technology.

He said the government has appointed a committee for the introduction of AI in Sri Lanka, and this committee will collaborate with the University of Moratuwa and the University of the Visual and Performing Arts on producing Sri Lanka's first film based on AI.

Wickremesinghe added that they will modernize the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka and provide overseas film education for those involved in film and tele-drama.
