Alibaba's innovative search engine, Quark, unveiled its upgraded gaokao (the national college entrance exam) information services on Thursday, introducing a feature where users can now pose personalized questions about their college preferences and receive AI-generated summaries in response.

This enhancement aims to streamline university and major selection for students and families, especially amid a record-breaking 13.42 million gaokao registrants this year.

Quark's AI-powered search empowers students to delve into various facets of the gaokao, offering comprehensive insights sourced from diverse web channels. From admissions policies to university majors, campus life, and career prospects, the AI delivers a wealth of information in a user-friendly format.

To further bolster students and parents during the application process, Quark has enlisted prominent experts and scholars in college counseling to conduct over 20 free live sessions. These sessions enable students to access and store relevant materials in their cloud storage effortlessly. Additionally, personalized application strategies, rules, and tips tailored to the unique characteristics of different Chinese provinces are offered.

With a focus on enhancing information acquisition efficiency and broadening students' perspectives, Quark's smart tools have been providing free services for gaokao takers for six consecutive years. Last year alone, 30 million users, including students, parents, and educators, leveraged Quark's gaokao information services for application support.

As AI-generated content and large model applications increasingly permeate daily life, this year's gaokao takers have shown heightened interest in related fields. Notably, computer science and technology emerged as the most sought-after major, followed by electrical engineering and automation, artificial intelligence, dentistry, and software engineering, with AI-related disciplines dominating the top ten popular fields of study based on Quark statistics.
