The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) is committed to rectifying online corporate-related infringement, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises and entrepreneurs in cyberspace as well as purifying the online environment, said Niu Yibing, vice minister of the CAC.

Niu made the remarks as he attended the World Internet Conference (WIC) Member Day Activity & Symposium on Corporate Rights Protection in the Digital Era on June 19 in Beijing, at which Ren Xianliang, secretary-general of the WIC, made opening remarks for the member day activity.

The CAC has implemented a special campaign to address prominent problems concerning the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises and entrepreneurs in cyberspace, Niu said. It has established both online and offline reporting channels, which are designed to streamline the complaints process in a coordinated way, making it easier and more efficient for businesses to safeguard their rights, Niu said.

The administration has also formulated a long-term and integrated mechanism to improve the management of social media accounts related to corporations' situations and information, Niu said.

Niu said that he hopes enterprises and government departments will collaborate to create a clear online business environment. He encouraged businesses to report issues in accordance with laws and regulations to protect their rights, and be proactive in clarifying facts, while providing comprehensive evidence to support efforts in their right protection.

Officials from CAC's Comprehensive Cyberspace Governance Bureau and the Illegal and Harmful Information Reporting Center interacted with the participants at the symposium on crackdown campaigns against corporate-related rumors and misleading product reviews on social media platforms, and the building of a law-based online business environment.

The symposium served as a platform for WIC member enterprises to voice their concerns, helping them understand relevant policies and further boosting their confidence in business development, according to participants, adding that they hope the WIC will organize more member day activities to provide a platform for extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits among member enterprises.

The activity was hosted by the WIC, which saw participation of 80 representatives from nearly 50 member enterprises, including Tencent, Alibaba Group, Zhijiang Lab, Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd., 360 Security Technology Inc., Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd., Beijing Kuaishou Technology Co., Ltd., SOHU, Pinduoduo, Qualcomm Inc., IBM (China) Company Limited, Intel China Ltd, Nokia Shanghai Bell Co., Ltd., and Micron Technology, Inc.
