Chinese tech heavyweight Lenovo Group Ltd is doubling down on artificial intelligence with a new strategy of integrating various kinds of devices with one AI large language model.

Liu Jun, president of Lenovo China, said the company aims to integrate its self-developed Tianxi AI large language model into a range of devices, including AI PCs, AI smartphones, AI tablets, and various AI-powered internet of things equipment.

This aims to provide users with a new experience of having a "personal AI assistant" in different scenarios of work, study, and life, Liu said.

According to him, acting as the "AI Brain" for AI devices, Xiaotian is powered by its large language model that enables functions such as intent understanding, proactive perception, short-term and long-term memory and task planning. Through Xiaotian, users can achieve natural interaction with AI devices, which Lenovo believes will gradually replace websites and apps as the primary entry point for personal users.

Zhang Hua, general manager of Lenovo's China consumer business group, said the strategy is driven by user needs and highlighted significant enhancements in Xiaotian's document creation and editing capabilities. These include document summarization, translation, text refinement, and content creation.

It also enables swift transfer of files and applications across different devices. For instance, a photo taken on a smartphone can be instantly transferred to a PC or tablet, a PC can open smartphone applications, a tablet can serve as a second screen for a PC, and a partially watched sports match on a smartphone can be continued on a tablet, Zhang added.
