The 2024 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit opened in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province, on Wednesday.

This year's summit, themed "Embracing a People-centered and AI-for-good Digital Future – Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace," features 24 sub-forums, covering topics such as the Global Development Initiative, the digital economy, and innovation and governance of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, along with a series of related activities.

A new highlight of this year's Wuzhen Summit is the introduction of the WIC Distinguished Contribution Award, which recognizes individuals and enterprises that have made outstanding contributions to the global internet landscape.

Under the WIC framework, the summit will also see the establishment of a specialized AI committee, the launch of a think tank cooperation program, and the creation of a digital academy.

The summit runs until Friday.
