Wendy Hall: AI to revolutionize scientific breakthroughs
Wendy Hall, chair of the World Internet Conference Specialized Committee on Artificial Intelligence, shared her vision of AI's transformative role in science at a recent symposium.
Hall, also fellow of the Royal Society and Regius Professor of Computer Science at the University of Southampton, said that AI will drive tremendous breakthroughs, as it can analyze vast amounts of data in ways traditional computing technology simply cannot. AI's ability to process and make sense of such large-scale data will revolutionize scientific discovery, unlocking new possibilities across a range of fields, she noted.
The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
