As big data and AI technologies advance, Chinese winter sports athletes increasingly turn to these cutting-edge tools to enhance their performance. One of the most notable examples is the renowned ice-dancing duo Wang Shiyue and Liu Xinyu.
On Feb 17, the duo went to the School of Education at Northeast Normal University in Jilin to undergo speed and agility cognitive tests aided by big data and AI-powered training systems.
Wang and Liu had taken a break from competing last season due to illness. Since their return to scientific training in November, they've seen remarkable improvements in their physical condition, with encouraging results.

The duo trains at Jilin Key Laboratory for Enhancing Competitive Sports, the only provincial-level lab in China dedicated to ice and snow disciplines. The lab's "Champion Model" training system has already helped over 100 athletes, including top names such as Wu Dajing and Sun Long, win national and international competitions.
In addition to advanced training methods, the lab also focuses on developing innovative sports equipment, such as youth racing skis, 3D-printed crash helmets, and alpine skiing support systems.
Integrating AI, data analytics, and specialized training equipment is revolutionizing winter sports training in China. It is now more precise, data-driven, and tailored to the athletes' needs, aiming to achieve even greater success on the world stage.
