Ren said that the internet has become a critical component of social governance, with information technology playing an increasingly vital role.

However, he noted that, like other revolutionary technologies throughout history, the internet has brought not only invaluable opportunities and favorable conditions but also new risks and challenges in the information age.

Addressing emerging issues and challenges in the governance of internet ecosystem, Ren stressed the need for foresight, resolve and wisdom in navigating the complexities of this evolving landscape.

He advocated for collaborative solutions to build a fair governance framework and improved legal systems to consolidate the legal foundation for governance.

Other proposals he made included enhancing technological empowerment to boost intelligent governance, adopting a people-centered approach to improve well-being of the people and promoting communication of fine Chinese culture to create a healthy and sustainable environment for the development of cyberspace.

The WIC will continue to serve as a bridge and platform, upholding true multilateralism and uniting governments, businesses and the tech community, Ren said. These efforts aim to create a global internet governance system that is more equitable, open and inclusive, making the benefits of digital civilization accessible to all and building a community with a shared future in cyberspace, he added.
