An important forum on the development of Xiamen's multinational corporations took place in the coastal city of Fujian province on June 2.
Long Yongtu, former vice-minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, was invited to the event.
About 200 representatives from State-owned enterprises, private companies, as well as the Xiamen municipal government participated in the forum.
In his two-hour speech, Long Yongtu explained China-US economic and trade relations, combining his own work experience and observations.
He pointed out that China's multinational companies should place more importance on innovation and the quality of their products, and pay more attention to international regulations.
The forum was hosted by the Xiamen multinational corporation development promotion association, the ADPMC, which was established in September 2018 to provide a platform for the exchange and cooperation between State-owned enterprises, well-known private firms and leading foreign companies.
"In my view, the first criterion for a good business environment is that all enterprises of different ownership enjoy equal treatment," Long said. He added that this should be the key priority for building a world-class business environment.
"As far as I know, the ADPMC's mode is unique in the whole country. I think Xiamen has a very advanced vision," Long added.
According to the ADPMC, the association will serve as a think tank for all the member enterprises and help promote multinational corporations in Xiamen.
