Luo Zhiqiang, a teacher from Xiamen Industrial Commercial and Tourism School, has devoted himself to technical and vocational education in Xiamen in the past 18 months, helping two Xinjiang students receive national awards for motor skill competitions, Xiamen Daily reported on Dec 5.
In August 2018, Luo took part in a Support Xinjiang project organized by Fujian government, working at a secondary vocational school in Changji, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, for 18 months.
Due to a lack of professional teachers and upgraded teaching equipment, the students had a weak foundation in learning. Despite the tough challenges and difficulties, Luo made breakthroughs in helping the students, who had no prior experience, win third prize at a national competition.
In addition, Luo has provided training courses for local teachers in Changji, with the aim of improving the quality of teachers.
