Professor Wang Qiuwang from the School of Energy and Power Engineering at Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) has been elected as a 2025 Fellow of the American Society of Thermal and Fluids Engineers (ASTFE), becoming the first fellow from the Chinese mainland. This marks another achievement following his election as a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in 2019.

His election as a Fellow of ASTFE recognizes his significant contributions to the science and technology of thermal and fluid engineering and to ASTFE.

Wang is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, a National Leading Talent, and the Chief Scientist of a National Key R&D Program. He serves as an executive board member of the International Centre for Heat and Mass Transfer and is a standing member of the assembly for International Heat Transfer Conferences.

His research focuses on enhancing energy-saving and energy-storage processes. He has achieved multiple breakthroughs, significantly contributing to industrial energy efficiency and high-performance heat transfer equipment design and development. In recognition of his work, he has received multiple national-level awards.

Established in 2014, ASTFE is a leading professional organization dedicated to thermal-fluid science and engineering. Becoming a Fellow of ASTFE is the society's highest honor. Since 2019, no more than six outstanding scholars have been selected each year for this distinction, and only 30 scholars have received the honor to date.
