On November 26, Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and Xi'an Jiaotong University formalized their partners by signing a Memorandum of Cooperation for the Patriotic Education Base in Xi'an. The ceremony, at Xi'an Jiaotong University in Shaanxi province, underscores a new phase in their collaboration.

The agreement was signed by Zhang Liqun, president of Xi'an Jiaotong University, and Teng Jinguang, president of PolyU, with Lin Dahui, chairman of PolyU's Board of Directors, and other key university officials present.

Zhang Liqun emphasized the longstanding cooperation between the universities, highlighting their achievements in talent development, research, and innovation. He described the new base as a significant step in cultivating students' moral and intellectual growth, preparing them for national rejuvenation efforts.

"This initiative will deepen and broaden our cooperative efforts, significantly contributing to national and regional development strategies," Zhang stated.

Teng Jinguang reaffirmed PolyU's mission to nurture students with patriotism, global vision, and social responsibility. He hoped the base would effectively utilize collaborative resources to educate students and achieve meaningful outcomes.

For Hong Kong youth, the base offers opportunities to learn about Chinese culture, understand national technological advancements, and engage in industry-academic collaborations, Teng added.

Lu Jianjun, secretary of the Party Committee of Xi'an Jiaotong University, praised the partnership's role in fostering exchanges between mainland and Hong Kong institutions. He described the base as a testament to their shared educational mission and deepening friendship.

Following the ceremony, attendees explored Xi'an Jiaotong University's Innovation Port Digital Exhibition Hall and the Shaanxi Magnesium-based New Materials Engineering Research Center, gaining insights into the university's technological innovations.
