Pang Kapang, an outstanding Chinese conductor, who once conducted at Vienna's Goldener Saal Wiener Musikvereins, is its artistic director and chief conductor. Zhu Changyao, a renowned urheen player, composer and performer, is the group's art guide, and Cheng Congwu, honorary chairman of Suzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles, is its general manager.

The young Suzhou Chinese Orchestra has over 90 musicians from more than five countries and regions, including Chinese mainland, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Its inaugural concert was at the Suzhou Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater on Dec 25, 2017.

The orchestra will continue inviting renowned performers, conductors and composers from home and abroad to join it to better promote traditional Chinese culture by integrating Chinese folk music into orchestra performances, and reinterpreting and expressing traditional Chinese music through the symphonic format.
