The infinite universe embroidered on patches of cloth by a Suzhou embroiderer impressed United States' National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) workers when the delicate work were showcased at an international astronomical convention six years ago.

Chen Yinghua, the renowned creator of the amazing embroidery, comes from Zhenhu, in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, an embroidery center.

As a Zhenhu native, Chen learned her craft when she was a little girl. Though 15 or 16-hours of practice would be boring work for many people, Chen really enjoyed the process.

"When I settle down to embroider, I feel a sense of inner calm and safety," Chen said.

At 18, her uncle asked Chen to embroider a painting of Huangshan or Yellow Mountain, a frequent subject of traditional Chinese paintings. The subject is too complicated to embroider; so many masters are not willing to take the risk.

However, the young Chen undertook the job after a slight hesitation. Unexpectedly her work made her famous in her hometown.
