Suzhou opened a flagship store at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai on May 26, showcasing local fine craftsmanship and artworks, local media outlets reported.
With an area of 1,200 square meters, the exhibition hall displays over 200 works of fine art in 12 fields, including Su Embroidery, Kesi weaving, jade carving, fruit pit carving, Suzhou fans, furniture from the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911), jars for cricket raising and fighting, birdcages, and ancient-style bronze wares.
The exhibition is divided into an area exhibiting fine craftsmanship that was popular in the imperial house, an area showcasing selected artworks designed and created by local artists, an area showcasing sideline products at reasonable prices, and an area for the live demonstration of Suzhou craftsmanship and artworks.
