About BISU
Beijing International Studies University

Beijing International Studies University (BISU) is a renowned multi-disciplinary institution of higher education, offering courses such as literature, management, economics and philosophy, with foreign languages and tourism as its dominant and specialized disciplines. It is an important base in China for talent training in and research of foreign languages, translation, tourism, and economics and trade.

Li Yueran

Li Yueran


Li Yueran (1927-2003) served as a Russian translator for Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Deng Xiaoping and other Party and State leaders. In 1965, Li became deputy director of the academic affairs department of the BISU.

Guan Zhenhu

Guan Zhenhu


Guan Zhenhu, a graduate from Fudan University with a bachelor's degree in English, joined the revolutionary cause at the age of 20. He was one of the founders of the department of French language at BISU when the university was established in 1964.

Zhou Xiqing

Zhou Xiqing


Mr. Zhou Xiqing was a famous patriotic scholar, translator and social activist. He had served as secretary-general of the central supervisory commission of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang and also as its consultant.

Dong Leshan

Dong Leshan


​Born on Nov 14, 1924 to a businessman's family in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, Dong Leshan (1924-1999) was a famous translator, writer and researcher of American cultural studies.

Ji Jinbiao

Ji Jinbiao


Born in February 1966, doctor of economics, professor, doctoral supervisor. He is now the deputy Party secretary and president of Beijing International Studies University in charge of overall administrative work.

Wang Xiuyan

Wang Xiuyan


Born in September 1966, doctor of engineering, researcher, doctoral supervisor. She is now deputy Party secretary of Beijing International Studies University.

Zhang Yan

Zhang Yan


Born in September 1967, associate researcher. Zhang is currently a vice-president of Beijing International Studies University and a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BISU Committee, and director of the Publicity Department of the Party committee.

Cheng Wei

Cheng Wei


Born in October 1976, doctor of literature, professor, master supervisor. She is currently a vice-president of Beijing International Studies University and a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BISU Committee.
