Visit national innovation center for ICVs in Beijing

Updated: Mar 3, 2023 L M S

The National Innovation Center of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles (CICV) was established with the approval of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The shareholders of the company include more than 20 units and research institutions covering complete vehicles, parts, information and communication. It is also the only national innovation center in the field of intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs) in Beijing.

The Taiheqiao base of the CICV opened in September 2022.

The new base covers a total area of more than 161 acres and a total investment of 1.074 billion yuan ($156.26 million). Currently, it has built several world-leading intelligent connected vehicle laboratories and trial production centers.

Entering the virtual and human-computer interaction laboratory for complete vehicles, a driving cockpit that is "watching movies" attracts people's attention.

This is actually a digital testing equipment. Test personnel can sit in the intelligent cockpit and simulate various weather and road conditions such as wind, frost, rain, and snow through the screen in front of them. They can also set various parameters of the vehicle through simulation software to optimize vehicle performance and provide the best riding experience for passengers.

Compared with the technical path of developing intelligent bicycles, ICVs not only develop the vehicles themselves, but also emphasize the coordinated development of complex cyber-physical systems composed of ICVs, roadside infrastructure, cloud control platforms, communication networks, and other components.

Liu Weiguo, assistant of the Director of the CICV remarked that through multi-party collaborative efforts, the CICV has built a leading domestic ICV scenario library. It has also delved into the forefront of common technology fields such as electronic and electrical information architecture, information security, algorithms, and operating systems.

Relevant technologies have been implemented in many car companies such as BMW, Volkswagen, Dongfeng, Geely, Great Wall, NIO, Chery, and BAIC New Energy.

Data shows that the total investment in the CICV laboratory is 720 million yuan, of which equipment and software and hardware investment have reached 429 million yuan. In the future, the CICV will continue to adhere to its role positioning and functional positioning, work closely with the industry, and promote the high-quality development of China's ICV industry.
