Wuxi city talent classification and recognition criteria

Wuxi government launched the Taihu Lake Talent Plan in 2016 and over the past several years, the recruitment initiative has been upgraded several times. Here are the plan's talent classification and recognition criteria.

1. Criteria for recognition of Class A talents

The age limit for Wuxi Class A talents is normally set at 75 for Nobel Prize winners, 70 for academicians, and 65 for other talent. To be certified they must meet one of the following conditions:

1.1 Category A1: Nobel Prize winners (physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine) and winners of the State Preeminent Science and Technology Award.

1.2 Category A2: Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; members or fellows of the highest national academic authority in the United States, Japan, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, India, Ukraine, and Israel.

1.3 Category A3: Young and middle-aged experts who have made significant national contributions; winners of the Copley Medal, the Turing Award, the Fields Medal, the Wolf Prize in Mathematics, the Abel Prize, the Lasker Award, the Crafoord Prize, the Japan Prize, the Kyoto Prize, the Shaw Prize, the National Medal of Science Award of the US, the National Medal of Technology and Innovation of the US, the Medal of the French National Centre for Scientific Research, the Royal Gold Medal of the UK, and winners of similar honors; top talents certified in the National "Thousand Talents Program", outstanding talents certified in the National "Ten Thousand Talents Program", certified top talents in Jiangsu province, leaders of top talent teams certified in Wuxi's "Taihu Lake Talent Plan", and top-level high-caliber talent at Wuxi institutions of higher learning.

2. Criteria for recognition of Category B talents

Those who meet one of the following conditions, and are 55 years or under, can be recognized as Class B talent in Wuxi:

2.1 Category B1: Specially-invited entrepreneurial experts in the National "Thousand Talents Program", leading entrepreneurial talent in the National "Ten Thousand Talents Program", national candidates for the National "Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project", recipients of special allowances from the State Council, those who have completed projects supported by the National Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars; and first-level participants in Jiangsu province's "333 High-level Talent Training Project".

2.2 Category B2 : National "Thousand Talents Program" and "Ten Thousand Talents Program" talent (non-entrepreneurial), "Four Batches" talent for the National Publicity Culture System, Chinese arts and crafts experts, winners of the China Skills Award; winners of the State Natural Science Award or the State Technological Invention Award, the first prize (top two places) winners or second prize (first place) winners of the State Science and Technology Advancement Award, the top two winners of the National Patent Gold Award (patent inventors and designers) in the last five years; second-level participants in Jiangsu province's "333 High-level Talent Training Project", entrepreneurial talent of Jiangsu province's "Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan", leaders of entrepreneurial and innovation teams; and leading high-level talent at Wuxi institutions of higher learning.

2.3 Category B3: Innovative talent of Jiangsu province's "Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan", winners of the Jiangsu Skills Award, young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions to Jiangsu province, and crucial high-level talent at Wuxi institutions of higher learning.

3. Criteria for recognition of Class C talents

Those who meet one of the following conditions, and are 50 years or under, can be recognized as Class C talent in Wuxi:

3.1 Category C1: Talents selected into the Wuxi Taihu Lake Talent Plan and other municipal-level entrepreneurial leading talent and leading team leaders.

3.2 Category C2: Innovative leading talent selected into the Wuxi Taihu Lake Talent Plan, senior corporate management talent, high-end accounting talent, leading talent with advanced manufacturing skills.

3.3 Category C3: "Technology Entrepreneurs" in Jiangsu province and "Doctors of Entrepreneurship and Innovation" in Jiangsu province.

4. Criteria for recognition of Class D talents

Those who meet one of the following conditions, and are 45 years or under, can be recognized as Class D talent in Wuxi:

4.1 Category D1: Third-level participants in Jiangsu province's "333 High-level Talent Training Project", "three-leading" talents of Jiangsu province, experts with outstanding contributions to Wuxi.

4.2 Category D2: Talents who have worked in Wuxi for five years after obtaining a doctorate, senior professional title and senior technician certificate, and those who have worked in Wuxi for eight years after obtaining a master's degree, intermediate professional title and technician certificate, or who have worked in Wuxi for 10 years after obtaining a bachelor's degree. Social security or personal tax must have been paid for the required time.

4.3 Category D3: Excellent college students eligible for the "Wuxi Introduction" program.
