All those video and phone calls are filled with deep affection and love toward Wang Juru, a resident of the Han ethnic group in Gongxiang compound in Xixia district, Yinchuan city, Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region.
Since 2015, Wang has built the "pairing-up" assistance partnership with nine college students of the Uygur, Tujia, Zhuang and several other ethnic groups.
Over the years, Wang has often invited them to enjoy meals with her at home and visit other places together. Additionally, she has done her utmost to help them solve life difficulties and brought them to attend volunteer service activities.
Ding Weihong, a granny from Huimin residential community in Xixia district, has established the "pairing-up" assistance ties with Huang Maoling, a student from Chongqing at Ningxia University.
Ding said that Huang is a very good girl and that she will provide her with utmost assistance.
For her part, Huang said that she likes Granny Ding's dumplings very much.
The warm stories between them are the epitome of ethnic unity in Xixia district.
The Gongxiang compound is home to people of different ethnic groups and its Party committee has attached great importance to the building of a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation and come up with a special working mechanism for its governance. The administrative sides of the residential community, nearby factories and universities have cooperated with each other on the integration and utilization of their resources, and held various interactive activities to unite and lead local residents to engage in mutual learning, common development and harmonious relations.
