Qingtian online classes deliver Chinese culture across borders
The Qingtian Jiangnan Experimental School – located in Qingtian county, Lishui, Zhejiang province – recently conducted online classes for the children of overseas Chinese currently living in Spain, enabling them to get to know more about Chinese culture.
Through the online platform, over 50 children from the Wenxin Education Group in Spain – who are spread across three campuses – gathered to attend the Chinese language classes held by teachers from the Qingtian Jiangnan Experimental School.
Teacher He Xiaoyu used vivid language and metaphors to guide the children in a journey into the world of Chinese characters. While, teacher Xu Yongxiang focused on classical Chinese poetry as the core of his lesson.

"Classical poetry is a treasure of traditional Chinese culture. I hope that through learning these poems, the children can appreciate the allure of Chinese culture and better understand its profoundness," Xu said.
Qingtian county is known as the hometown of about 381,000 overseas Chinese, with second- and third-generation overseas Chinese making up 80 percent of this population.
The online teaching program aims to build a bridge of knowledge and emotion across borders for the children of overseas Chinese who are eager to learn Chinese language and understand Chinese culture.
