Shaoxing Paojiang Economic and Technological Development Zone
Shaoxing Paojiang Economic and Technological Development Zone was established in July 2000. In April 2010, it was upgraded to a national-level economic and technological development zone. The population of the district is about 300,000.
Covering a jurisdiction area of 118.3 square kilometers and a planned construction area of 66 sq km, the development zone focuses on six major industries: modern textiles, plastic chemicals, machinery manufacturing, food and beverages, biomedicine, energy conservation and environmental protection.
The district boasts an advanced transport system. Located in the southern part of the Yangtze River Delta area, it is about 190 km from Shanghai, 50 km from Hangzhou and 116 km from Ningbo. It takes 15 minutes to drive to Shaoxing North Railway Station and 35 minutes to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport. It is also adjacent to large ports such as Ningbo Port.
In 2017, the area's GDP reached 23.6 billion yuan ($3.32 billion) with the industrial added value of industries above designated scale – annual sales revenue surpassing 20 million yuan – increased by 7.3 percent. The total import and export volume reached 22.66 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.5 percent.
Many science and innovation platforms have gathered in the zone, including 255 science and technology enterprises at or above the provincial level, among which are 62 State-level high-tech enterprises.
