Embarking on an enchanted summer journey in Gansu’s Wuwei

In May, the peonies in Liangzhou Botanical Garden bloom as if on schedule, in a dazzling array of colors. This is the best time to visit Wuwei to appreciate the fragrant peonies, the national flower of China.

In early June, along the banks of the Binggou River, a mesmerizing display awaits. Edelweiss flowers, as soft as velvet meadows, blanket the landscape. Clusters of purple stamens dance in the gentle breeze, as if waving for attention in this breathtaking tapestry of nature.

Deep within the Binggou River Scenic Area lies the Malan Flower Grassland. In June and July, a breathtaking spectacle unfolds as nearly 4,000 acres of Malan flowers erupt in a vibrant carpet of colors across the verdant landscape. The clear sky stretches overhead like an expansive dome, framing the scene. To the east, majestic mountains and forests complete the captivating panorama, creating an endless vista of emerald green that beckons photographers and nature enthusiasts alike.

The Nimala Grand Canyon stretches nearly six kilometers in length, in the scorching summer days, the canyon remains veiled in solid ice, with flowing water murmuring beneath the ice and wildflowers proudly blooming atop the frozen surface, creating a natural wonder to behold.

In July, Gulang county in Wuwei transforms into a breathtaking scene. Peonies carpet the ground, while rapeseed flowers sway gently in the breeze. Lush greenery and vibrant yellow blossoms create a tapestry of color.

Gazing across cascading fields of flowers and golden terraces, a network of rural roads snakes through the landscape. The meticulously sculpted terraces, bathed in a warm, golden glow, present a scene both picturesque and poetic.
