On Nov 12, a Belarusian truck bearing the TIR (Transport International Routier) mark arrived at Gansu (Wuwei) International Land Port's designated meat inspection site. After verification by Jinchang Customs, this marked the official opening of the Belarus-China (Gansu Wuwei) TIR transport route, Gansu's first direct cross-border cold chain import channel.

The truck carried 21 tons of frozen beef from Belarus, valued at 730,000 yuan ($100,000). Departing on Nov 1, it traveled through Kazakhstan, entered China via Alashankou port, before reaching its final destination in Wuwei.

TIR transport, operating under the UN TIR Convention, is a global customs transit system that simplifies border procedures and reduces costs. Transport companies need only submit documentation once for the entire journey, with no routine inspections required at intermediate customs points, enabling true door-to-door delivery.

"Compared to our previous rail transport, TIR offers direct delivery without transfers and greater flexibility," said Fang Jun, general manager of Gansu (Wuwei) International Land Port Development Co. "This shipment covered 7,000 kilometers in just 10 days, matching China-Europe freight train efficiency while reducing cargo damage risks."

The Wuwei inspection site, spanning 100,500 square meters in Zone B of the International Land Port, features inspection areas, storage facilities, and comprehensive customs infrastructure. The facility has operated steadily for six years.

"Going forward, we will continue supporting TIR transport to strengthen the Belt and Road logistics corridor," said Li Zhengfu, director of Jinchang Customs.
