Lately, the majestic presence of black storks, a revered Class I protected species in China, has graced the tranquil waters of the Hui River in Chongxin county, Pingliang, Gansu province. Their graceful arrivals have bestowed upon the region a unique and enchanting ecological marvel, adding a spectacle to the local landscape.

In early spring, under brilliant sunshine, these magnificent birds create a captivating scene as they frolic and forage in the Hui River. Against the sun-dappled waters, their dark silhouettes gracefully skim the surface or soar high above. Their distinctive red beaks and white undersides stand out strikingly in the sunlight. With elegant movements, they circle in the air before plunging their long beaks like precise spears into the water, skillfully catching fish in a display reminiscent of an exquisite water ballet.
