The largest railway passenger port directly connecting the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong SAR – Guangzhou East Railway Station – is located in Tianhe District.

The Guangzhou-Kowloon Through Train completes a one-way trip in 90 minutes. In addition, multiple through bus lines to the Hong Kong SAR and the Macao SAR are available in the district.

Tianhe district is within 30 minutes of drive from the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and 15 minutes from the Guangzhou South Railway Station. The district is equipped with seven metro lines, including four transfer stations and 32 regular stations. The first automated people mover system (APM line) in the city and BRT line sit in the central area of Tianhe, along with approximately 400 bus lines. Road network include, from east to west, Guangyuan Expressway, Zhongshan Avenue, Huangpu Avenue and Linjiang Avenue, from south to north, Guangzhou Avenue, Huanan Expressway, Keyun Road, Daguan Road, and other main trunk roads. Overall, the district has an increasingly extensive road system.
