Guangzhou Monetary and Finance Museum

Guangzhou Monetary and Finance Museum was founded in September 1995 and formally approved by the Guangdong Department of Culture and Tourism in 2001.

The museum has played important roles in familiarizing visitors with currencies, improving their abilities in currency identification and relevant research, and integrating experiments and practice in currencies with curricular activities on the basis of its monetary and financial resources over the past years.

The museum has become an important place where people can learn more about the history and connotations of currencies at home and abroad.

There are 35,000 monetary and financial objects in the museum, which covers an area of 1,600 square meters and boasts an exhibition line of 1,000 meters. Exhibited items include currencies of different countries made in different historical periods.

The museum comprises 10 exhibition halls featuring ancient Chinese coinage, currencies of the Republic of China (1912-1949), currencies of old revolutionary base areas under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, currencies of the People's Republic of China, gold and silver commemorative coins, currencies of China's Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, electronic currencies, financial tickets, currencies of other countries and anti-counterfeiting currencies.
