Huolu Mountain tunnel to be completed by this year

Construction of the tunnel that will go through Huolu Mountain in Guangzhou's Tianhe district is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The tunnel starts from the intersection of Keyun Road and Huaguan Road in the south, ending at the intersection of Guangshan Road and Huamei Road, spanning a length of 2.78 kilometers. It is designed with a speed of 60 km per hour and two-way six lanes. With a total investment of 2.02 billion yuan ($300.69 million), its construction period has been three years.

After completion, it will further improve the main road network in the eastern part of Guangzhou, as well as relieve traffic pressure between the eastern and central areas of Guangzhou. It will cut the driving time from Keyun Road to Guangshan Road by nearly half an hour.
