Practice base for HK, Macao youth established in Tianhe

The innovation and entrepreneurship volunteer service exchange and practice base for Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macao youth was established at the Wego Community in Guangzhou's Tianhe district on June 27.

It is expected to help build a platform for exchanges between Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macao, serve young people's innovation and entrepreneurship in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as harness the strength of youth in the Greater Bay Area to serve society.

To date, there are 14 innovation and entrepreneurship bases for Hong Kong and Macao youth in Tianhe district, accounting for 30.4 percent of Guangzhou's total. Among them, five were recognized as national makerspaces, accounting for 62.5 percent of the city's total, three were awarded as Guangdong and Hong Kong youth innovation entrepreneurship bases by the Guangdong and Hong Kong governments, while six were included in the innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration bases for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan youth.

Wego Community is an innovation and entrepreneurship brand in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Maoming. It is operating 10 bases, with a space of over 70,000 square meters, and more than 900 enterprises have settled or have been incubated there, serving over 18,000 makers.

It was qualified as a national makerspace in October 2015 by the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
