The opening game of the 2022 International Vertical Marathon Open ended at the Guangzhou CHOW TAI FOOK (CTF) Financial Center, also known as the Canton East Tower, in Tianhe district on Aug 7.

This year's event, which was jointly hosted by the Tianhe bureau of culture, radio, film, television, tourism and sports and the Guangzhou Vertical Marathon Association, was entitled "Feeling the Strongest Heartbeat".

The Guangzhou CTF Finance Center has a height of 530 meters, with 109 floors and 3,160 steps, and is the highest building in Guangzhou.

The winner of the men's elite group finished the competition in 17 minutes and 33 seconds, while winners of the men's and women's public group crossed the finish line at 20 minutes and 56 seconds and 23 minutes and 33 seconds, respectively. Twenty-three minutes and 29 seconds was the fastest time for the twosome group.

Since 2016, the International Vertical Marathon Open has been a featured sports event in Tianhe district, promoting the development of all types of sports.
