The Patch-City Pavilion in Guangzhou's Tianhe district was recently shortlisted by the 2022 Frame Awards for the "Cultural Space of the Year".

The project was launched in November 2021 on the old site of a primary school, and was designed by ROOI Design and Research. It is a temporary building composed of recyclable modules, which can be flexibly combined like building blocks. It can be reused and even moved to other sites for reconstruction.

The second version of Patch-City, Patch-Café, was set up at the hall of Kingold Century two months later without the use of any hoisting machinery and equipment. It greatly reduced the cost and time of site construction, while demonstrating the flexibility of the modules.

The Patch-Café project is a complement to the commercial space of a building, while having the ability to combine coffee, retail, and real estate sales with cultural activities.
