New Cantonese Opera Theater to open soon
The new Cantonese Opera Theater in Guangzhou's Tianhe district is expected to open within this year, adding another cultural landmark to the city.
Covering a combined floor area of nearly 40,000 square meters, the new theater has three floors underground and 16 floors above ground. It is equipped with a 1,200-seat theater, a 500-seat theater, three 60-seat cinemas, as well as a cultural activity center.
The exterior and interior design of the theater was inspired by the hat and cape worn by actresses in Cantonese Opera performances.

In addition, the theater is connected to the Hung Sin-nui Arts Center via a corridor on the third floor, making it easier for Cantonese Opera fans to get closer to the Cantonese Opera legend.
Born in Guangzhou, Hung Sin-nui (1924-2013) was a Cantonese Opera performing artist and the founder of the Hung school of performing arts of Cantonese Opera.
