The metaverse digital art research and innovation base was unveiled at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangdong) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubation Base in Guangzhou's Tianhe district on Oct 12.

The base was jointly sponsored and established by the Publicity Department of the CPC Tianhe District Committee, the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and the Tianhe Culture and Arts Exchange Promotion Association. It will focus on the incubation and creation of metaverse digital art works, the construction of an expert think tank, academic exchanges and research, talent training, as well as major metaverse projects.

Duan Xi, deputy head of Tianhe district, said that the base will build an expert think tank with strong strength and a good reputation, providing intellectual support for the development of metaverse digital art formats. It will also promote the settlement of metaverse digital art projects in Tianhe, as well as advance the coordinated development of cities, universities, enterprises, and talents in the Greater Bay Area.

Five platforms will also be built at the base, namely the metaverse digital art laboratory, the expert workstation, the metaverse innovation college, the metaverse incubator, and the metaverse industry funds.

"The base is the first industry-university-research cooperation platform in the metaverse digital art field in China," said Tan Liang, a professor at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. "The eight laboratories at the base will carry out industry-university-research cooperation projects on metaverse art in different directions."
