Eight office buildings in Guangzhou's Tianhe district were rated as super first-rate or first-rate office buildings in 2022 by the Guangzhou bureau of commerce. The awards ceremony was held at the Guangzhou International Finance Center (IFC) on Dec 9.

A total of 10 office buildings in Guangzhou were newly designated as super first-rate, while 16 others rated as first-rate. They cover a total combined floor area of 3.8 million square meters and an office space of 3.08 million sq m. A total of 2,087 enterprises have filled these buildings, which have created over 140,000 positions.

"Building economy is a new metric for high-quality urban development," said Bao Ziyang, secretary general of the Guangzhou Association of Building Economy Promotion. Bao also stated that promoting the high-quality development of building economy is an important measure for Guangzhou to add new vitality to the old city.

Tianhe is a representative of the high-quality development of the building economy in Guangzhou, as Tianhe's central business district (CBD) is one of the three major CBDs in China.

The Tianhe Standards to improve buildings' sustainable development policy was issued in 2017, making Tianhe the nation's first to implement sustainable building management in line with international and Hong Kong standards.

The standards were further improved in 2020 and included indicators like public health, waste classification, and 5G applications. These reflect current social development requirements and key national development strategies.
