A total of 67,092 new jobs were created in Guangzhou's Tianhe district in 2022, while 3,775 people who had difficulty in finding a job were assisted in getting re-employed.

Several measures, including sending specialists to enterprises for on-site visits, establishing a 24-hour labor scheduling guarantee mechanism, and pushing subsidy information to companies through big data analysis, were implemented by the district.

Mr Chen, who used to be a department head at a software company, had ambitions to start up his own business, but was lacking the funds needed. Service specialists in Tianhe learned about his situation and assisted him in applying for the district's start-up guarantee loan policy. Soon after, he got a loan of 500,000 yuan ($74,022), and set up a software sales company.

"After the establishment of the company, service specialists in Tianhe gave us door-to-door guidance and guided us to apply for various subsidies," said Chen. In 2022, his company enjoyed over 5,000 yuan in rent and social insurance deductions.

Last year, Tianhe approved various employment and entrepreneurship subsidies totaling 408 million yuan, benefiting 174,200 people from 41,600 enterprises. It also handled 126 applications for start-up guarantee loan qualification verification, assisting 2,781 entrepreneurs and creating 15,570 jobs.
