Construction of expressway to Baiyun airport progresses

Updated: April 24, 2023

Construction on the second expressway to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has recently made new progress. A pavement project in the southern section of the second expressway has begun asphalt coating.

The second expressway passes through Huadu, Baiyun, Huangpu and Tianhe districts, with a total length of about 46.07 kilometers, a designed speed of 100 km per hour, and eight lanes in both directions.

The northern section of the second expressway was completed at the end of 2020, while the southern section is expected to be completed and open to traffic in 2023.

After the completion of the second expressway, travel time between Tianhe and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport will be shortened from 1 hour to just 30 minutes. The second expressway will also help form a one-hour transportation circle in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
