The Guangzhou East Railway Station, which is located in Guangzhou's Tianhe district, will be upgraded to a high-speed railway station, according to an announcement recently published on the official website of China Railway Guangzhou Group.

After the renovation, the number of platforms and railways at the Guangzhou East Railway Station will be increased from seven and 16 to 14 and 24, respectively.

The upgrade is due to the construction of the fifth and sixth lines between the Guangzhou East Railway Station and Xintang Railway Station. The main line will be 30.01 kilometers in length and have a designed speed of 200 km per hour.
