The financial city has been promoting the construction of its transportation network. The Chebei South Tunnel, which connects Guangzhou's Tianhe district to Haizhu district across the Pearl River, opened in January 2023. Construction is underway on the Yuzhu Tunnel, which is set to be put into use by the end of 2026, while the Guangzhou International Financial City Station is expected to be operational in the middle of this year.

Starting from Huangpu Avenue and Zhongshan Avenue in the north, the Pearl River in the south, and the South China Express line in the west, the Guangzhou International Financial City covers a land area of 8 square kilometers and has a planned floor area of nearly 26 million square meters.

At present, there are 25 grade-A office buildings either under construction or already completed. The total floor area of these buildings exceeds 2.4 sq m.

Twelve financial institutions, including China Guangfa Bank and China Pacific Insurance, have settled in their starting areas, and their eastern areas have attracted leading enterprises like Macao-based Luso International Banking and Kugou Music. Over 120 enterprises engaged in the information technology and digital creative industries have chosen to set up operations in the northern area, and construction is being advanced on the T.I.T Wisdom Park and the China Artificial Intelligence (Guangzhou) Industrial Park in the western region.
