Tianhe achieves $69.71b in Q1-3 GDP
Tianhe district of Guangzhou generated GDP of 495.36 billion yuan ($69.71 billion) in the first three quarters of the year, a solid increase of 2.3 percent year-on-year.
According to the latest statistics, the added value of the district's primary industry was 134 million yuan, down 33.7 percent year-on-year; but that of the secondary industry totaled 33.18 billion yuan, up 7.7 percent year-on-year and that of the tertiary industry was 462.06 billion yuan, increasing by 1.9 percent year-on-year.
From January to September, the added value of the district's modern services industry totaled 369.22 billion yuan, growing by 3.4 percent and accounting for 74.5 percent of total GDP, a 0.6 percentage point increase year-on-year.

Elsewhere, the added value of strategic emerging industries reached 147.05 billion yuan, representing a 5.7 percent growth and holding a share of 29.7 percent in the district's GDP. That marked a 2.4 percentage point increase year-on-year.
During the same period, the total value of imports and exports reached 50.94 billion yuan – growing by 5.2 percent – while the total number of enterprises in the district topped 600,000.
Furthermore, 79,000 new enterprises were established, marking a 4.2 percent increase and accounting for 23.9 percent of Guangzhou's total. Additionally, 105 key enterprise projects were newly introduced, including investments from seven Fortune 500 companies.
The total retail sales of consumer goods amounted to 156.84 billion yuan, representing a 19 percent share of the entire city.
The completion of fixed-asset investment in the district amounted to 54.65 billion yuan, representing growth of 10 percent.
